Site is losing its value

Options
I wanted to check the lowest electricity prices, so did what I've done for many years: Came to MSE to read up on where to find the best prices and what to search for.

Except that this time, the site didn't help. No links to price comparison sites, no useful guidance, no actual help at all.

Instead every single link on the 'energy' page is trying to get me to sign up to the Cheap Energy Club.

I don't want to do that. It doesn't work for me. It's also now immediately suspect and can't be trusted because it's making money based on which supplier I switch to.

So I'm going to go elsewhere and do my own research. It's a shame, this used to be a useful site.

I'm not sure where you were looking, but this is the most common link to the MSE article on saving money by switching energy supplier.

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity/

It still offers 2 alternative comparison sites; energyhelpline that offers exclusive cashback to MSE readers, and uSwitch that offers an exclusive free wine deal.

You may need to expand the section "For more help switching via comparison sites, click here"

I know the article used to have a few more, but MSE Martin always said he would promote a particular comparison site only if they agreed to offer exclusive benefits to MSE readers; it seems the others no longer are prepared to offer an exclusive MSE deal.

The link also advises "check if you can get more going via a cashback website " etc.
