it was £100 with a online sweetener of £10 + £2 delivery. so total invoice £92.

It was an Umidigi A5 pro. In case anyone is thinking of buying one they look to be the equivalent of phones twice the price and had reasonable reviews.

As it is a little know make I had problems setting up mobile data with my current sim supplier, then it just failed totally. A common issue apparently.

Which reputable site did you use to find fair reviews?
  • Hi

Thanks for the replies, getting back to the original question if the company won't play ball how much chance have with the credit card company taking action. American express BTW.

Its possible yes, you will need to speak to them about it.
They may ask for the report I mentioned earlier.

Thanks for that, I'm wary of getting a report as it's a sealed unit, so opening may invalidate any warranty anyway.

I may ask a local phone repairer to have a look , they may have some experience they can use. I've used them before when I dropped a phone in water and used the report to claim on insurance for a new one.

The reason for buying through worldsim was that they threw in a sim card with £20 credit on it.
  • Ok An update in case anyone is interested.

I raised a charge dipute  with american express who rang a few days later  and asked a few questions. This was followed up by a letter asking to update the dispute with any documentation I had. Once that was received they would contact the supplier.
i had already taken the phone in to see if the local repairers could suggest anything.  They said it was dead and didn't want to take it apart as they had no knowledge of the brand . Their suggestion was don't buy cheap chinese phones  !! So added that to the documentation and sent it off
Looking online at my account today I note amex have credited the cost back to my account and it will show on my next statement.  Not sure what went on behind the scenes

    Result.

As an aside I did put a bad review on trust pilot  which got the response

"Our refund period is 14 days. Please check it by following the link : https://www.worldsim.com/delivery-charges-returns-refunds?___store=gb

If the purchased item is under warranty, one needs to contact to the manufacturer. It's same for all sellers not only for WorldSIM. However, be requested to email us with your Order Number at customerservice@worldsim.com so that we can check your order status"

Finally I note there are a lot of 5 * one line reviews stating how excellent/wonderful/fantastic the customer support is  with no other details.

If Amex work on the same basis as Visa/Mastercard. There is a timescale for the retailer to respond and contest the refund.

So might be worth contacting Amex just to make sure.
