Switched Energy against Landlords rules

In my properties contract it states I was not allowed to switch energy suppliers and to stay with Scottish Power.
We’ll I ignored it because SP was way more a month than other suppliers. I use the Energy Club and generally switch to whatever is cheapest. Now I’m looking to get out of renting and move into my own home. My question is when should I switch back to Scottish Power before moving? I don’t want to have to pay more than I need to.

My LL said the same. This is what I showed him. No problems after that.
I always found it helpful to google anything like this that the LL said, just to check my options.0 -
Could always just switch back to SP just before you leave on their standard rate which hasn't got a tie in period. Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000

Why bother at all?0 -
That’s not a legal tenancy term. You can ignore it0

The only way you couldn't switch power company was if the landlord was paying the bills which they weren't. Perhaps on your move out leave you could leave not just the info of current supplier but also a print out of the link deannatrois gave you so they can learnAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

It's a legal term but unenforceable. Ignore it.
Stupid Landlord (again).
Artful: Landlord since 2000.
Change to water meter & smart meters also to really p#ss them off0 -
Why do landlords think that tenants don't want the freedom to switch energy suppliers. It's the tenants home, not a prison!
Unbelievable!0
