LTD Company in the UK, but living abroad

Options
Hi All,

I left UK last year, but would like to still pay national insurance contributions to continue collect years for my pension. I was self -employed, but know it is agains the law to live and work abroad and continue to be self employed un the UK. I want to ask:
is it legal to register a ltd company in the UK (i can provide my friends address in the UK) with no costs and no income (no invoices at all) and just pay national insurance contributions volountary?
Is it difficult to make a bookeeping? When I was self employed I done everything by myself (tax return online, etc.). Is there a big difference to fill all documents online and make bookeping in comparision to self-employment?

Best Greetings,
Marko

  • No income so how will you pay NI?
A quick Google search indicates you pay NI on profits as a self employed person or company so how would you get round that if your company has no income and therefore will not make a profit?

Now if you can find a way round all that good luck in opening a UK bank account for your limited company if you are abroad.

You can set up a limited company and be a director of that company from outside the UK. But it isn't necessary if the only reason is to pay NI contributions towards your State Pension. You can make voluntary NI contributions.

If you google "gov.uk" and "voluntary national insurance contributions who can pay" (I can't include a link as my account on the forum is new). But you should find the page and it says:

Living and working abroad Class 2 if you worked in the UK immediately before leaving, and you’ve previously lived in the UK for at least 3 years in a row or paid at least 3 years of contributions

Living abroad but not working Class 3 if at some point you’ve lived in the UK for at least 3 years in a row or paid at least 3 years of contributions
