Tax credit overpayment

Hi i had an overpayment back in 2014. The debt was because me and my ex partner had split up in September 2014 but i didnt move out until December 2014.
As we were still living together for those months we were still relying on each other for money etc.
It was a large overpayment of about £1000 which got split and i have already paid back my half of the debt.
Someone told me that i might be able to dispute it as we were still living together until the December. Does anyone know if this is true? Tia

I think it’s far too late to dispute it now.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

Yes, it's too late. https://www.gov.uk/tax-credits-appeals-complaints/dispute-tax-credits-overpayment
Send your dispute form within 3 months of either:- the date on the first letter, statement or notice you received telling you that you’ve been overpaid
- the ‘decision date’ on your Annual Review notice

It doesn't sound like it would be a dispute but rather an appeal - either way you are well out of time for both.
