Not sure if I'm in the right forum but can't seem to find relevant info. Feel free to direct me to right place if I'm on the wrong board.

Looking for advice with regards to my lease.

The lease started in November 1993. After 25 years the fee went up. Initially we were only invoiced for the usual amount, then after paid we get another invoice with additional amount. As it was coming up to Christmas I held off paying it and in January 2019 I got a letter stating that as there was a discrepancy with the date of some of the leases they were holding off for another 5 years before putting the charge up. (with me so far?)

In the summer of 2019 the leasehold management company changed and all the info was supposed to be passed over. We got an invoice for the original sum and then the additional for this year (2019-2020) but then they have also invoiced for last year also.

I'm usually meticulous with my paperwork but cant seem to find the letter which cancelled the additional amount for 5 years. Have called both companies and first one says they sent all info to new company and new one says they did not got info from old company.

Is there anything I can do. I have, this evening sent SAR requests to both companies but wondering if I should send one to the actual landlord? Only issue is I can find info about the company on the .Gov website but nothing more that would put me in contact with their data controller. Any idea how I find this? It's Fairhold Holdings (2006) Appts Ltd.

The House Buying, Renting & Selling board would probably make more sense for this.


What do you mean by "the fee"? Are you talking about the rent? If so, and it was meant to go up (or be reviewed) after 25 years, that would be stated in your lease - have you checked whether there is actually anything unclear in it? Not sure why "discrepancies" with other leases would lead them to postpone a rent increase for 5 years. Is it possible you've misremembered what the letter said?
