Hi,
Not sure what's happening or if its common, but we recieved our winter credit voucher today of £140 and put it all on the meter, but since doing so the meter seems to have lost the ability to show pence. It went to £146 when I topped it up, and now £145. Is this normal?

Is this on the meter or the IHD. If the IHD then unlikely the screen display has enough digits when over £100 in credit.0

How many digits has the meter got. Possibly you've exceeded the resolution of the meter with that amount of credit on it.
I dont have your sort of meter but it's possible that it will only read up to £99.99 but then when £100 is exceeded it cant show the pence. You might have to wait until it drops below £100 before you'll see pence again.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Its the portable smart meter not the one fixed to the wall next to the consumer unit. You'd have thought they would make the show pence as it did when I had less than £1000

Yeah the in home display. Not the main one. But my friends shows pence, so I was curious why mine doesnt.0

How often do people go over £100 credit, rarely I suspect.0

molerat, its normal for us to put £100 on, as we normally stick a monthly budget on to last us rather than put small amounts on. So not seeing the pence is odd to me.0

TBH if you got over £100 on the meter why do you really need to know how many pennies as well.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

matelodave, I think its purely cause we are used to seeing the pence aswell to see how quick or slow its going down which was useful when the amount is low. Not so essential with £100 and above I understand that. Just seems odd for something modern not to have it though.0

I think the big problem with a lot of stuff and the smart meter IHD's in particular is that someone somewhere has decided what info is most useful and not necessarily what info you really want.
We all have a different view on how they should work and what info we want from them but its has been decreed that you'll just get what you are given however useful or useless it might beNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
