Dry eyes

Whether your eyes get crusty or not (mine don't) you still need to clean them. You can use the baby shampoo but I find that a phaff. I use the wipes and massage around the area as shown by the optician - it helps the cleaning and massaging helps lubricate and clear the ducts.0

I suffer from MGD and although this is expensive I found it gave relief from pain/discomfort when compresses etc didn't https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blephasteam-Goggles-for-Dry-Eye/dp/B00ARUI3WK/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=52385155359&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7omcksW25wIVBLTtCh3S-Ao-EAAYASAAEgJDs_D_BwE&hvadid=259062738215&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9046499&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9875703953957388114&hvtargid=kwd-301496812463&hydadcr=28146_1752652&keywords=blephasteam&qid=1580772699&sr=8-10

I also face dry eyes very often. I use to work in front of the computer for long hours.0

The last 3 days have seen a big improvement, I do not wear eye make up and use Liz Earle cleanse and polish and also the baby shampoo. I got an eye mask which is good.
the wipes I tend to save for when I am away from home.
I do have an eye test every year as my father had glaucoma.
Thank you all for sharing the products you have it has been a great help.

I struggle too with dry eyes, one in particular is very red inside and imflammed, some days I can control it - others it is so sore and raw the drops just irrate it more, I was told that it is a case of just finding the drops that suit me....great advice from an ophthalmologist!!, so far have in last 4 months have used 4 different ones, at first seems to help but after a week it flairs up again, each and every morning when I make my first cuppa I pour boiling water on cotton wool, when just warm I clean my eyes.
I too find the warm heat pad helps but nothing seems to improve it for more than a day or two.
Use a Night ointment called Hycosan and seemed to help then after a few times it seemed to really irrate, so now I put a tiny amount on top on lid and in corner just before sleep as well as the drops that seem to suit me best.
My GP has prescribed drops which I can sometimes use( when redness is not so bad) I will ask about the carbomer gel. Great to read about it -many thanks
Can I ask folk if they find it difficult to open eye after a nights sleep, most morning I squint for a good 5 minutes before I can open the worst eye.

Hi I really don't have the problem of opening my eyes in the morning so can't help.
I'm finding I have a couple of good days then a bad one. I have to admit it's getting me down a bit0 -
If worse on waking try Vit-a-pos ointment overnight can't use in day as will make vision to smeary.

The Vit a pos suggestion I will look at. At night I use Hycosan Night ointment and it seems to have Vit A in too....I had thought about Hylo gel tears who are made by same company and pres free too.1

My hospital ophthalmologist told me that baby shampoo is very ineffective in treating blepharitis. He recommended Ocusoft Plus eye wipes as being the most effective, and they are. Since using them, along with Hylo Forte drops my eyes are so much better. The link with rosacea is down to the demedox mites which live on eyelashes and come out at night to wander around your face. Rosacea is suspected to be caused by their droppings. 😱😱Good luck in finding the right treatment for your eyes.1

Kirktondm and Gers
Many thanks, after a surge in discomfort in the last few days I am going to ask for a referral to opthalmologist for advice on how better to control this, it has really become dreadful since two lots of antibotic drops and gel since 2 infections back end last year.
The Vit i pos is actually what I use only under new name same formula. It really helps but doesn't carry on into the day but helps till mid morning. Have not be told that I have blephartis - but did buy a cleanser recommended Natrasan and spray this on cotton wool to clean eyes.
Gers the mention of rosacea, while never in my eyes - did see dermatologist for several years with this and I now understand that the treatment that cleared it can contribute to dry eyes, the hylo forte is hycosan extra and have used now on hycosan dual.....it is so confusing because both brands seem to be the same and was told last week by optican the UK company brands them now as hycosan.
