Asda own brand, in my opinion, is of a much lower quality than the other 3 major grocers. and on a par with the discounters.
Lidl Deluxe range I much prefer to any of the premium ranges elsewhere.

I used to like Asda, well one store in particular, which I would drive the 70 mile round trip to every few weeks because of their range of products, stuff the local Asda ( which is a complete mess ) didn't stock. But now they too have cut their range down in that store as well, there's no need to go to it

I do pop into our Local Asda about every six weeks or so, more so if I have the grandchildren staying as I find their kids clothes and range of pocket money toys are much wider and better quality then our Tesco and our Sainsbury. But food wise, no I don't rate it at all.

Maybe its just our stores here, but the only pork and pork products sold are Dutch. Most of their beef and all of their chicken is imported as well. Yes the fruit and veg is cheaper then the other big names, but tbh most of the rest of what I buy is cheaper elsewhere or of better quality. Yes they do roll back with really good prices, but 99% of the stuff is stuff I don't buy - crisps, biscuits, cakes, cereals, snack type foods etc,  or at least not on a regular basis

Im a Lidl shopper, we have one local and I love it. In and out in 20 mins, get exactly what I need at a good price, The staff are friendly and chat to you, the customers are polite and friendly and most of all the products I buy are very very good quality. We have a new store opening next month which is twice as big as the one we have already, looks to be not much smaller then our Tesco and Im really looking forward to shopping there ( sad I know lol ) as they will be able to carry more of their lines as regular stock and not just specials. And the best bit is 99% of their fresh foods are from NI or Eire - bread, deli, dairy, meat

I just redid my budget planner and I generally shop at Asda online. I compared lots of products and whilst Aldi and Lidl were cheaper, often the packet sizes were slightly lighter or smaller too.  Where they do come into their own for me is in toiletries and cleaning products - between them and home bargains I generally don’t buy many of these kinds of products from Asda.
