Disabling alarm system in old Mondeo (53)
Options
Lost/mislaid remote key so using spare. It is inconvenient to have to start the engine every time I unlock the car, as well as wasteful. Also, the age of the car does not justify that degree of security. Can that be switched off? Is there an associated fuse that can be removed?

Are you talking about the alarm or the immobiliser? If the latter, then no - it's integral to the engine management.0

What happens if you unlock the car and don't start the engine? (Genuine question - I've not come across this before). Is the spare key one that simply unlocks via the key part itself? (i.e. not a press-the-button-to-unlock type).0

You don't have to start the car, merely turn the ignition on.
The PATS system can be got round, it would be cheaper to buy a new car though.0 -
Unlock the car with the remote and you won't need to put the ignition on.
Remotes are super cheap if yours does not work.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
