  • First morning this week we have not had to get up early doors.

Courier coming to collect my sewing machine, I have taken a photo of it before it goes. Proof that it was packed correctly. What makes you think I do not trust carriers?

Dull grey morning. There is a stiff breeze. No plans to put my nose outside the door today. I have a pile of bed linen to iron, will do the sheet and pillow cases this morning the duvet cover will have to wait until tomorrow.

I have moved our savings into a better account. Had a real job with the bank trying to set up the transfer originally, I had to draw down a bit, January has been an expensive month. I had to pay for a travel lodge and also a ferry crossing to go to the Isle of wight in September.

Gers: I see the rest and be thankful is blocked again, hope they do not take long to clear it.

Fish, mash and peas tonight for supper. DB cannot chew chips just now, Will make mustard sauce to go with it.

Been to the tip and now have another load of shredding waiting to go. I managed to persuade DM to not read through nearly 100 emails from the nasty conniving woman who my late brother lived with before his death. They would have only upset DM all over again, luckily she agreed so they are now in shreds. Took me ages!

AOD - sorry to read about your recurring nightmares. Must be horrible.

TAFF - good work, though I'd ask you to take things just a tad easier!

Good afternoon chums ,lovely history this morning all about the NHS and its beginnings. Our tutor is brilliant as she was a nurse for 15 years before she retrained as a teacher. So we had some great memories from her. Next week we are doing the 1950s :).She is also a jolly good cook and makes the most amazing cakes for Fridays, so we usually sample some with our coffee before starting history.
Then afterwards I nipped into aldi's to get a few odds and ends needed and Just totalled up my food budget for January and I have come in at £49.70 which is £10.30 under budget so a nice crisp £10.00 to go towards my next trip to the IoW in April :)and 30p to go into the piggy bank .I budget for £60.00 per month and as I have been using up left overs from Christmas and bits from the freezer its worked well this month, so roll on February and tomorrow I shall draw my £60.00 out for February.
I saw some beautiful snowdrops have just come out on the way back home so fingers crossed spring is on its way .Quite mild here at the moment ,if a bit breezy.

Dumpling I know how you feel my immunity was compromised with chemo so I am always very careful when it comes to folk with coughs and colds etc, and if I have one, I keep indoors and keep my germs to myself .

Gers it's amazing when you start to clear out stuff how much gubbins you seem to save for no apparent reason
Last year I cleared one of my filing cabinets out and found a who file of guarantees for stuff I haven't even got anymore (lawnmowers from the 1980s at my previous house ) Its definitely satisfying to declutter paperwork When I do it I have it all bagged up and my DD takes it into her workplace where they have an industrial sized shredder which soon makes short work of it, then the shredded paper goes to recycling.

Right time for my afternoon cuppa and feet up for half an hour before DGS Mikey comes charging in from school looking for food That boy is built like a pencil yet eats like a horse ,its just not fair :):) :)

    Cheers chums

Well...I'm done for today! I've ploughed through so much 'stuff' and sat with DM as she ploughed through even more. She has accumulated so much it's scary. There's even a proper old-fashioned scrapbook full of newspaper cuttings on a wild range of topics.

DM has been 'brave' enough to let go of 99% of what we went through so I'm proud of her and pleased too. Now I need to work out how to carry two black bags (not heavy), one bagful of unwanted art exhibition catalogues (heavy) and the blue recycling bag (in between) downstairs along with my crutch. :) Might need two trips I think.

After my chicken salad I succumbed to a few fizzy peppa pigs.

    Evening all ( Dixon style :D )
Had a bad night last night, was coughing till the small hrs, don't know if it was the paint or just me. Anyway I was late to the painting party and I have been playing catch up all day :(. I didn't even have time to post or just read along today until now 'cos Mr fix it was cracking the whip ! :rotfl: Not really, he was cleaning when I surfaced. He's such a good egg :kisses3:
So 90% of the emulsion has been done, that will get finished tomorrow a.m, then I will start the glossing in the dining room so we can put the heavy dresser back....... I ain't moving it more than is necessary, it's too blummin heavy !
We've had an early tea, LO lasagne followed by ice cream and now the pj's are on and it's feet up time. Mr Fix It may have a glass of port tonight and I may have a cheeky Stella lager ( it's the only thing I drink except the odd glass of sparkling wine with food ;) ) and only the one mind :naughty: . I don't want to have a hangover tomorrow, or goodness knows where the glossing will end
    Take care all.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
