The World’s Most Successful Rock & Roll Musical, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, is celebrating its 30th anniversary by embarking on a UK wide tour, and is visiting Grand Opera House York from Tuesday 24 – Saturday 28 March this year.
Buddy tells the enduring tale of the musical icon’s meteoric rise to fame and his final legendary performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his tragic and untimely death at the age of 22. Audiences will be treated to 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits, including timeless classics That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy and Rave On. Since opening at Theatre Royal Plymouth in August 1989, Buddy has enjoyed phenomenal success, having played a record-breaking 4450 performances over 556 weeks on tour in the UK and Ireland, as well as 5822 performances over 728 weeks in London’s West End.
