Electronic Warranty/ Amazon

I bought a bluetooth transmitter for the car last July. It's just physically broken, so cannot be used.
I bought it via Amazon, but a third party seller. Contacted them today and they said sorry, only 30 days refund or replace.
I thought electronic items had at least a one year warranty under EU law?

Please can someone advise, as i don't really think it's acceptable, that something can work for 6 months, then you have to just replace it or am i being optimistic.
Do i have any recourse or just have to accept that I've had 6 months use, so buy another.
TIA
