Our previous house had an extremely similar extension on the side. When we put it up for sale, a developer wanted to do the exact same thing as this property, it was turned down by the local council, rightly so and he withdrew his offer.

Absolutely agree, extensions like that should not ever be allowed....

Having said that it reminded me of the times when in the Netherlands the council tax depended on the size of the facade only. It was then when a house about 2 meters wide was built.
