Rambosmum said:This looks so much like American McMansions it's bizarre to see it in the UK.The columns at the front with the malproportioned pediment (far too short and spikey), the weird thing hanging from the kitchen ceiling, the huge rooms with no discernible purpose except to say 'I'm rich', the random dormers on the back of the roof... classic McMansion style! Someone went nuts with stick-on fancy coving and the pillars on the half landing are funny. Don't get me started on the turrets! Was the architect just slapping on features willynilly? All that money and the whole look of the building is a mess, there's not a single angle from which it looks pleasant and balanced. At least the windows are a consistent style.Yes I do read the McMansion Hell blog and it is very good,Mortgage - £274,000 to pay

Don't think I've ever this before, a room for their bikes, and then their bed strapped above the sofa with scaffolding.

Er...that's a communal bike store, it's not a studio flat owner who happens to own about seven bikes.snowqueen555 said:Don't think I've ever this before, a room for their bikes, and then their bed strapped above the sofa with scaffolding.

Deansgreen Hall was built for the Lord Mayor of Chester between 1895 and 1906. In its original form, it did not have the columns and pediment (I think that was added sometime after 2012). The place was purchased by the millionaire golfer Duncan Evans for £1.5m in 2002 and sold it the following year for £3.5m - The funds he used were from a £38m VAT scam which ended up in him being convicted of fraud and sentenced to 10 years. I doubt his short ownership was responsible for the McMansion makeover, but it set the tone for future owners.Bad_Accountant said:

I’m impressed with the bed arrangement, which is on pulleys.snowqueen555 said:Don't think I've ever this before, a room for their bikes, and then their bed strapped above the sofa with scaffolding.

I find it sad that people live in places so small as that. It must be awful at this time of year!snowqueen555 said:Don't think I've ever this before, a room for their bikes, and then their bed strapped above the sofa with scaffolding.

That looks to me like a poorly converted office block. Very sad indeed to live in such a place when there are plenty of parts of the UK you can buy a proper house for that.RelievedSheff said:

I assumed it was the segregated room that is shown in the floor plan, but that would make more sense, but really unusual to show that in an ad.davidmcn said:
