Eurostar ‘any Belgian station’ ticket - useless?

Last September I booked the Eurostar for this coming March and as I was expecting to do plenty of traveling, paid £8 extra each way for the any Belgian station ticket.

However, it appears that it’s completely useless as it’s not valid on IC services, which are the only trains.

My initial plan was Liege, en route to southern Netherlands, but I’d consider changing if I could make use of my ticket. Tried different routes, all of which my ticket doesn’t cover.

Thankfully, the fares for the trains aren’t too bad, but I can’t help feeling that I’ve been conned by Eurostar
