Evening,
I am looking at buying a second hand car but am not at all savvy.
One car I am looking at has the following advisories on the mot:
Nearside Front Inner Road wheel slightly distorted (5.2.2 (c) (i))
Offside Front Inner Road wheel slightly distorted (5.2.2 (c) (i))
Offside Rear Inner Road wheel slightly distorted (5.2.2 (c) (i))
Front Exhaust mounting defective (6.1.2 (a))
But went through the mot last week. Is this spmething I should stay away from?
Many thanks

The exhaust mount wouldn't worry me too much but the "slightly distorted" wheels might as this could be indicative of an accident in which the car hit a kerb hard enough to damage the wheels.
If this did happen, there could possibly be other problems that wouldn't get picked up on the MOT.0 -

OP - what profile are the tyres? The tyre size will be something like 195/55 16. If the middle number ("/55") is less than about 40, then they're very low profile tyres - there's very little sidewall to cushion any potholes, and the rims themselves are vulnerable to damage. All it needs is the wheels changing. When was this MOT done? Is there any vibration through the steering or seat once you get above about 60mph?0 -
It also depends on the age and price of the car.
On a 10 year old £1000 car, those advisories wouldn't worry me very much. However, I might be more concerned if it was a 1 year old £15000 car.0 -
if the car is few and far between in the spec you want then I'd get it. If not, I'd find a different one.0

There are many many thousands of very good secondhand cars on the market.
I would not entertain buying a vehicle with those sort of advisories on it.

Quite the contrary... if on a used car the only things to worry about is an exhaust mount and some rim damage then your doing well.
Open your eyes and look at alloy wheels and you'll see some truly shocking ones0
