Amending Loveholidays booking

Hi all,

I’ve booked a 5 night break for four people in Portugal through love holidays which is about 3 months away. The booking includes flights, hotel and transfers. I chose a monthly payment plan and paid a low deposit. I’ve received confirmation from the airline, Ryanair, to say my flights have been booked and it seems they’ve been paid for fully.

I can no longer travel in 3 months and want to amend my booking for summer time. Reading their t&c’s, I understand I will be be charged £75. I’ve had a look at Ryanair’s website and it says they charge up to £70 per person to amend flights. I’ll be contacting Loveholidays to request costs of amending my booking but thought I’d arm myself with some info first.

Has anyone tried to change the dates of their bookings with Loveholidays? What was your experience?

Up to £75 per person amendment charge plus the service provider costs.
So there is the loveholidays fee, whatever Ryanair charge, plus potentially the hotel cost depending on whether it is refundable or not. And you are changing to a more expensive time of year so there could be an increase in flight and hotel costs on top for the new booking.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

On top of the Ryanair change fee there is also the fare difference- flights in the summer may be more expensive
  • Ryanair charge between £50/£95, the same in euros, per person per sector. Price is determined by route and date. You're potentially in for £760 Ryanair charges alone.

Plus you've then got any fees the accommodation supplier charges and the hotel charges, transfers may be more expensive in the summer and that supplier and/or transfer provider may charge. On top of that you've got Love Holidays admin fee.

I'd make sure whatever figure you're given to change is in writing, bearing in mind that prices can change between them giving you a cost and the change being done.

Not a criticism of the OP, but it does show just how important it is to read all the small print. Something which looks cheap at the outset may not end up that way if changes need to be made.
  • I’ve looked into it and it turns out flights will actually be £88 cheaper which won’t be refunded as is Ryanair policy. Fee to change flight is £280 (which I didn’t mind) but got a quote from Loveholidays to say my hotel will cost nearly £400 more for the summer dates I want. I don’t think it’s worth it. Just wanted a cheap getaway.

Looks like I’ll just have to rejig a couple of things in April and keep the holiday as it is.
