Paypal - purchase or cash?

Hi all,
I've just gone to paypal a friend a few hundred towards a holiday booking and I've noticed it gives me the option to pay using my credit card, which would be handy. However, if I do that, will I end up paying the same fees as I would were I to withdraw the cash, or will they treat it as a purchase? It's an amex, if that makes any difference.
Thanks

Most credit card companies will see sending someone money through family and friends as a cash advance. It would have to be a payment request or an invoice which would mean PayPal fees0

I've heard that Amex look very dimly on sending cash via Paypal and have threatened to close accounts before for doing it. Of course, your experience may vary.0
