Raising Roof Height for Bathroom

Options
Hi - new to forum so apologies for any initial stupidity/naivety !

I want to install a new bathroom upstairs (main bathroom downstairs at mo). In order to do this I would like to increase the roof height of the loft area above the sticky-out ground floor bit of our "L" shaped chalet bungalow. Effectively bring the wall height up to the level of the dormer. I'm thinking of a timber construction with new cladding on the new extensiona and the dormer to create a blended front aspect.

The room adjacent to the planned bathroom already has a loo and plumbing so no major plumbing/drainage changes required.

1. Is this feasible
2. Is this sensible
3. Is this a loft conversion or a different definition of home conversion (will help seek appropriate builders/designers/architects).

I'd like to attach a picture to give some context if I can find out how to !! :embarasse

p.s. I'm in Essex

You can post a broken link (so the forum doesn't recognise it as a link) to an image hosting website and we'll fix it and post up the fixed link.

Sorry, this is really one of those where pictures help.

If you are raising the roof line, you will most likely need planning permission and building regulation approval.

Yes you definetly need planning permission as your converting a loft space into an extra room essentially. Then assuming it gets passed on the architects designs you can go ahead and hire builders.
