Travelling to Hong Kong

I'm due to fly to Hong Kong with Virgin Atlantic in two weeks' time for a one week holiday. The FCO hasn't advised against travelling to Hong Kong yet. If I decide not to go because of the conoravirus outbreak will I be able to claim insurance?

  • If there is no formal advice to stop visiting then I doubt it very much. Things may of course change in the coming weeks.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

The Hong Kong government is suspending rail and ferry links with the mainland, and flight frequency will be halved, to reduce risk of spread of the virus to the territory.

The short answer is 'no'; having said that, it would be worth asking Virgin whether you could change to another destination. As others have said, the authorities in Hong Kong are taking steps to reduce the risk, while of course the FCO advice may change...
  • Thanks.

Also slightly concerned the Hong Kong government may decide to close the border after I arrive. Don't want to be stuck there.
  • For people who are interested https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/news.html Virgin is offering you to rebook or cancel your flights if you're flying to China (including Hong Kong)
