Query: Self Assessment Tax Return Marital Status

I live with my partner and we have 2 children. We are not married and we are not in a Civil Partnership. In the dropdown menu on my tax return I have the following options:
SINGLE
MARRIED
IN CIVIL PARTNERSHIP
DIVORCED
CIVIL PARTNERSHIP DISSOLVED
WIDOW
WIDOWER
SURVIVING CIVIL PARTNER
SEPARATED
I think I should be classed as SINGLE but I am confused as to what IN CIVIL PARTNERSHIP means as everywhere I look for a definition, there are only references to the formal CIVIL PARTNERSHIP ceremony/agreement.
Clarification on this would be much appreciated.

That's just it.
If you haven't gone through a CP at a Register Office, you're not Civil Partners.0
