Credit Card Guarantee

Hi there

I want to purchase my holiday with my credit card so I am protected under section 75. However - if I chop my credit card up after I have made the payment, am I still covered?

Comments

  • Yes. The plastic can be in any shape, format or number of pieces you want.
  • What a bizarre question.

By chop up I mean cancel. If I cancel the card and close the account am I still covered?

Be a whole less hassle if you didnt cancel it though.

You may be asked to show the credit card used to book at some point so keep it in one piece and in your pocket when you travel.

Why on earth would you want to cancel your card?

If you don't want to use it again - don't.

Strange form of wording but is it because you can't trust yourself not to use it? I'd recommend a credit card (:money: card of course) for taking with you on your holiday in case of emergency. Why do you want to 'cut it up'?

Don't chop it up or cancel it. Simply pay the balance in full and put the card away somewhere safe. It's always handy to have one in an emergency.

Don't cancel it. If you ever need to get a refund - say BA cancel your flight, then it'll be a nightmare trying to get the money back from a cancelled card.

Keep it until after the holiday at least.
