HELP- Pripi

I keep getting a popup box telling me that Spyware has failed to delete Pripi .............................have absolutely NO idea what that means .

I have run a scan and it has picked up a few things but nothing called Pripi .

Can someone explain simply what it is and what I should do about it please?

  • Which anti-spyware program are you using?
  • I dunno what it is, but your post is number one on google for pripi.......well done.
There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...
  • Keep getting this popup that i cannot delete pripi.. I use xoftspy, regcure, and verizon security. Verizon is the only one picking it up.

    Thank you
  • Just recently i also started receiving this message... i am using verizon internet security suite and i can't find any information regarding this.. I too would appreicate any help on how to remove this from my pc.
  • The fact that 2 (possibly 3) verizon internet security suite users are picking it up, and nothing else, suggests a false positive.

It might be worth posing a question on the verizon boards here

My concern is the pop up box itself.

Is the pop up box coming from one of your installed apps??
Is the box asking you to Click Here to uninstall and clean your PC??

Maybe a hijackthis log may help.
  • I'm getting the same

  • Try turning off system restore

The restarting your PC in safe mode and rerunning your scan

If your scan proves clean, reboot your PC and turn system restore back opn and create a new restore point

    Combofix targets this infection.

    @Lady E .... download Combofix from here ...

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

Note >> Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

When finished, it will produce a log for you.
    The report is called ComboFix.txt.

NOTE THAT Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.

If it takes longer then open task-manager (press ctrl alt and del at the same time) > use the Processes tab and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg then Combofix should continue.

If that happened we want to know so please tell us which process you had to end.

Post the Combofix log in your next reply along with a HijackThis log AND an update on how the computer is operating now.

@ Everyone else .... run ComboFix as instructed above ONLY IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVE THIS PARTICULAR INFECTION
    SPECIFICALLY.

THEN >> post the Combofix scan report into your OWN THREAD with an description of any remaining problems you may have.

DO NOT piggy back your troubles on the back of someone else's thread no matter how similar they may be.

  • pchelpman's ComboFix seems to have done the trick and PC appears unaffected.

pch - I can send you ComboFix.txt if required, but is there a better way to get this to you than posting it on the forum?
