Eon switch not good

I attempted a switch to Eon as Shell were increasing their daily "charges" by 250% I called Eon three times (separate days/times) to be kept waiting on hold for 40 minutes, another time by 36 minutes and a third time by 29 minutes without any resolution to my query.

If this is their attitude to potential new customers I fail to see how they stay in business 'cos they've not got mine. At least Shell offer a call back after 10 minutes.

BT are quite happy charging 20 pence a minute PAYG rate.

    Otherwise I would have thought someone with over a decade's membership of this forum would be well aware of this useful moneysaving website to consult when otherwise having to make a phone call you are expected to pay for:

    If you have no choice but to pay for a call, then one of the Finarea businesses are still good value.
    e.g. calls to UK landlines from 1.7ppm + 4p connection
    (although you now pay with Finarea whether you get through or not)

    Try the Phones & TV board for possibly even better alternatives, depending on who you are calling.

    But you can't get better than FREE! when calling Eon.

    We're aware this isn't good enough and are working to improve. In the meantime and if you still need to talk us, the Live Chat service on our website is a possible alternative. Advisors are online from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 6pm Saturdays.

    Live Chatters won't be able to do a switch for you as these are done by a specialist area of the business. They will be able to answer most questions and put you in touch with the specialist team if more help is needed.

    If you still want to go ahead with a switch, going through a Price Comparison site or our website is the quickest way to do this.
