Paying credit card by Cheque

A quick question, I have cheques drawn in favour of my credit card accounts, can I pay via HSBC or any bank counter?

It will usually say on the back of each of the credit card statements.

I have paperless statement and online statements don't have the giro slips.

The information should still be there. Look for a section marked 'ways to pay' or similar.

What credit card is it? There ought to be full instructions on how to pay it on their website.

    Can you clear this up.
Why have you got a cheque payable to your credit card acc? That seems a bit odd? Most cheques would be payable to a person.

MBNA - pay by cheques is by post only.

You can arrange bank transfers in branch, but not pay cheques.

Sorry for not being clear here.
I just remortgaged and borrowed extra to consolidate debts on credit cards. I have been send cheques to my address for the credit card balances! Thought they will send the full amount to my bank account.
So cheques are drawn in favour of the CC followed by my card number.

The figures are taken from my credit report and its almost 2 months old, I have been making regular payments and now the balance is less than the cheque amount, will the credit card refund the excess as I will clear the balance and be in minus figure.

    Thank you

You can ask them to refund, which they may do, or simply spend it.

If you overpay your credit card then they may just leave it to credit against any future use.
