I wonder if there is a service in the UK to lock out you from credit access like in the US? In the US, they can apply to 3rd party (paid service, just like CIFAS here) and have their credit ability locked out. No credit or loan can be taken with their name until it's unlocked back again. Very useful for ID theft victims and people who are not going to take any more loans and already have their mortgage paid etc.

I actually reported this one to the FCA on 28th January and possibly others reported it before then. Surprised it takes so long for the FCA to add the warning. Perhaps it is the FCA being slow to act, but google showing such obvious scams at the top of their search results as paid adverts is an issue also.
