There are plenty in rescue centres  Can be yappy little dogs :D They don't shed hair though but you need to get them trimmed often which could be costly.

I guess the kennel club would be the place to start if you want to go down the breeder route, but be aware that they are a puppy farm favourite so do your homework on the breeder before you buy one.

A good breeder will have homes for the pups before the parents are even mated.
You will be able to see the pups with the mother.
The breeder may well want to 'homecheck' you, i.e. come to your house and 'interview' you.
Most good breeders avoid Christmas litters, because it attracts people looking for puppies as presents.
If it is a pedigree, they will already have papers, saying they will post them on is a classic puppy farm trick (and of course they never will).
A good breeder will insist that you go to meet them and the pups, they will not offer to deliver the pup, or meet you at a service station with it.
They should have an adoption contract, and will insist that you return the pup to them should you ever have to rehome it, no matter how far in the future that may be.
They will have done health checks on the parents, and will have the results to show you.
They will be able to tell you why they picked that sire, and how he complements their dam, i.e. why they think this set of parents will produce pups that improve the breed.

Producing well bred healthy puppies is a complicated and expensive business and the price asked for them will reflect that. If you buy a pup adverstised in the freeads that seems to be a bargain then you'll be getting what you pay for.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

My next door neighbour got a gorgeous yorkie puppy from the Liverpool RSPCA and there were quite a few yorkies to chose from so I would defo try the rescue route first.
He hasnt ""yapped"" once that I know:rolleyes: but he is a lovely energetic little chap that would melt most:D ( and I have always been a big dog lover)

    Good luck

If you want a puppy from a breeder, your best bet is to contact the breed clubs. They will usually have a list of members with puppies available or litters planned. Members of the breed club have to abide by a code of ethics which ensures dogs are as healthy as possible and not overbred. The Breed clubs are:
    • CHESHIRE & NORTH WALES YORKSHIRE TERRIER SOC. Sec. Mrs J. Milner. Tel N: 0151 3273376
    • EASTERN COUNTIES YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs Pooley. For further information please contact the Kennel Club.
    • LINCOLN & HUMBERSIDE YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs B Pipes. Tel No: 01904 631961
    • MIDLAND YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs K Slaney. Tel No: 01283 226189
    • NORTHERN COUNTIES YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Ms Watson. Tel No: 01226 781373
    • SOUTH WESTERN YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs J Drake. Tel No: 0117 9601592
    • ULSTER YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mr S Larkham. Tel No: 02893 378302
    • YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs Mitchell. Tel No: 01235 833171

    • YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB OF SOUTH WALES. Sec. Mrs P Evans. Tel No: 01443 431052
Otherwise, check out rescue centres. Do not be tempted to get one from the free ads or similar. My friend did this and learned an expensive lesson. A sickly pup from day one and about £3.5k worth of surgery.
  • cheers you lot might go for a rescue one x
