Aqua Credit Card Bill

Hi - I’m new to the Aqua Reward card and have set up a direct debit to pay in full.

I have had an email saying bill is ready and when I logged on I was expecting a PDF I could download. However the only download option seems to be CSV. I was wanting to check that Aqua would be taking the full DD as payment, but It is not entirely clear from what I can see online.

All other credit cards I have you get a PDF with a traditional looking credit card bill - is this not the case with Aqua please? Or does it take a few days to appear?

I’ve sent them a message but not heard back yet so any info from an existing customer would be great please!

Yes expect this. Their systems are useless.

Like many other the pdf usually arrives a day after the email/text.

However with Aqua, it is likely to never arrive. And then they will reply to your query with yes we know stop asking!

Now I don't use mine so I care not, but if you plan to use it and want statements go to paper. It costs you no more (currently). (and TBH I don't see what trouble it is to any company to make pdf's available regardless of wheather you have paper ones of not, but anyway...).
  • There is a delay for a downloadable pdf version to become available. Just wait a couple of days or so and then try again.

You can have paper statements sent to you. Alternatively, if you click Prnt Summary it seems you can then convert the CSV to a PDF.

You can convert anything to a pdf. However their csvs as csvs miss pretty much anything usefull.

But as said, wait a couple of days is normal, but also for many customers they never come. (I think they also rejected a DD becuase there system cannot handle one from the same bank as an existing customer (it is a joint account) but I have no evidence, but it would be to their level of competance).

I only keep it as an emergency (probably abroad) card. But they would probably stop it after 3 euros and not try to contact me!

My Aqua bill was produced today.

PDF version isn't available yet. It will appear a day or two later.

Creation of a PDF is a computationally expensive process, doing it in real time would likely overwhelm their web servers so they and others run batch processes overnight or at any other time their servers are not busy to generate and store the PDF files on a storage location that can be accessed by their web servers.

My Aqua PDF statements are between 400 and 700 kilobytes in size, I don't know how many customers they have but lets say it was a million, that would maybe add up to half a terabyte of storage per month and they keep about 6 months worth of back statements available, so 3 Terabytes of storage for a million customers for 6 months of statements..

Also their CSV files are tiny by comparison only 1 or 2 kilobytes I expect they are in fact dynamically generated as they are essentially a dump of the data they have already retrieved to display your online statement page and that data comes back pretty quick.

Serving static content is simpler than serving dynamically generated content hence most businesses that provide PDFs via the web will do so by batch generation and static storage of the physical files and remember that they have to provide backup systems for all of that data as well and keep it secure.

Personally I find that my Aqua PDF statement is always available two days after the statement date rarely later.
