Hi
My Ford Fiesta (good condition 2010, yearly service, etc) has been written off in an accident. The insurance company have offered me £2,800.
It seems if I buy a similar car it would cost me £3170 from a private seller and between 3700-4100 from a dealership.
I need to buy a similar car because I don't have much money. I would always buy from a dealership.
What can I say to the insurance company? Or do I have to take the loss?
Thank you in advance.

You need to gather evidence that the car is worth what you say it is. Don't accept their first offer but do present evidence. Your preference for a dealership isn't valid in the process though.0

A quick look on Autotrader, with no more detail than it being a 2010 Fiesta (and excluding Cat writeoffs), finds over 400 cars ranging from £1,600 to £6,500...
298 of them are <£4k, 203 <£3.5k, 135 <£3k.
So... any more detail?
Of course you can query the valuation, but without giving a lot more detail than "2010 Fiesta", you really are guessing on what a fair value is. Where did the £3170/£3700-4100 numbers come from?0 -
Hi
It counted as good condition and mileage was 65K. What else should I look for do you think in judging its value?0 -
I entered the details on autotrader as a 'buyer' of this car.0

It's a 1.4, 5 door, titanium, Couple of modifications, darkened rear window, parking.0

I'm second owner - careful owner (usually).0

£2,800 certainly seems very low, then, whether petrol or diesel. The only similar cars <£4k are a couple of writeoffs.
