We have those red tiles on the front upper half of the house pained in the common red-ish colour. Tiles about 5 inches wide 10 inches deep. What are they called
Also, what paint can be used on them please?

They're just tiles. You can call them what you like but they are just tiles. If you want to know what make & design they are take one, or a photo, to a roofing supplier. They come in many colours.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

We had them on our old house, we painted ours. We used exterior paint.
The previous owner had painted them beige, we moved in and painted them back to the original colour to match our semi detached neighbour.0 -
If you mean the greenish cladding on the first floor then I would call them shingles but what you can paint them with depends on what they are made of.0

Once you paint them, you will have to keep repainting them. If they are okay-ish as they are, you may want to think about the long term costs. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Tiles on a wall are called 'tile hanging'.
The tiles - just like roof tiles can be made of various compositions.
Usually in the UK clay, concrete, slate, stone or a composite material.
Shingles are a particular form of tile where the tile is made of a cedar wedge - yes its is wood, though I expect you can get composite lookalike shingles made of some plastic/felt combo, and you can asphalt shingles.
Not much used in the UK due to our damp wet winters and generally our maritime climate. More common in drier continental climate countries.0
