Salvation Army buying house from us??

Options
Our house is currently up for sale. The people who wish to purchase our house are Ministers and their organisation who they work for will be buying the house for them to live in. I just wondered if anyone has had any experiences like this when selling their house? Its been over a week now and we have still not had the offer from them although the people who want our house have been in touch to say they have applied for it and still want it. I just wondered how long these things took or how they work ?? or if anyone else has sold their house to an organisation like this ?

Thank you.

I would treat them like any other buyer, if no news such as survey or solicitor appointed within what you deem a reasonable time, put it back on the market.

I guess you can expect them to be scrupulously fair and honest (i.e. not try any tricks or tell any fibs.)

    On one hand...
    • Being a charity, I suspect all decisions will have to be made by committee. They might insist on lots of due diligence, so that they are able to prove that they are spending the charity's money wisely.

So maybe expect things to move slower than usual, and maybe expect thorough surveys etc.

    On the other hand...
    • Being a charity, the committees might rely heavily on non-specialist volunteers who don't know much about property etc, and so they just do the minimum that their solicitor advises them to do.

If you haven't had an offer, you haven't had an offer. Somebody saying "Oooh, but I'd like it", but who hasn't even made an offer, is not a buyer. They're a dreamer.
