If you go onto the comparison sites for switching provider you can specify the source of energy in the search parameters.

Alternatively the results will be listed and the relevant information will be displayed at that point.

Don't forget to select the option to show "all results" and not just those that the comparison site can do directly otherwise you won't get the full picture.

Do you honestly believe that they only provide you with energy from a sustainable source.

It all goes into the grid from all over the country from windfarms, solar farms, nuclear, gas, oil and coal power stations as well as a bit of hydro and stuff that come across the channel.
Gas isn't everso sustainable either, it comes from holes in the ground or under the sea or across the continent through pipes, some even comes by ginormous boats as LPG. It then whizzes through the grids and pops out of your gas or electric meters for you to use.

How do you think that they then sort out the bit that you are buying and then have the cheek to charge you extra because it's sustainable??

Have a shufti at this to see where it comes from http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/

Although what you receive is the same for all consumers, using the argument of "it doesn't make a difference" is so lazy and misguiding... It's on par with flat earth and anti-vaccine.

Going for a sustainable and renewable company affects what you're contributing to the grid.

Green and sustainable companies tend to either OWN renewable generators or have PPA contracts - buying electricity directly from independent renewable generators.

People shop around companies based on the companies values, ethics and products that they offer. If a company is offering sustainable energy through PPA/Own Assets then it gives an indication of what values and ethics they stand for.

If a company is backed by massive oil investment (Shell), but say they're 100% renewable, then you have to question their ethics.
