Anyone here a registered call1899 customer?
I am with Ntl so I have to dial access number 0808 1708708, or 0808 1707474
and neither is working, no news on the home page, if you are with BT are your 1899 calls working?
I tried with my orange mobile and could not connect either.
???

Used 0808 1708708 this morning for a 25 minute call to Menorca - no problems.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Call1899/18866 have been known to be busy sometimes especially during the weekends.
This currently doesn't appear to be unique to 1899. Read this thread and you'll see Call18866 appear to be having problems.
As mentioned on the thread mentioned above, most people use either OneTel/TalkTalk at the weekends for their geographical calls as they're free.0 -
Just checked 0808 1708708 for UK call. It works from my registered office number (don't know what provider it is with, but I never could use 1899 access from this phone and always use 0808..)0

Yeah it's working now, maybe it was just over capacity earlier.0

That's it then you need to ring all your friends at nearly midnight Sunday. I should think it was something else as well; maybe they're doing some maintenance in a non-busy period. Sometimes in the past people have experienced regional variations.0

on b.t. line, put 18866 prefix on programmable button.do'nt want to connect.on normal dialling have to put s.t.d code after 18866 to get through on u.k. calls, 'is it me!?'.0

This happens from time to time robbo; what is often suggested is to open the account using a mobile number, and then add the landline later.
Sorry Heinz, cross-post. I would have deleted it, but I want to dispute your ludicrous advice about making up a number.0 -

So if that happens to me when I try to sign up for 1899 and I use my mobile number (which I do not want to be connected really because it is Orange PAYG), and I delete the mobile number after I add my home number, when I go to login, will it accept my home number for the login process?0
