Just being cautious as to how long the OP wishes to stay. 3 months ok, but a full 6 months who knows at the moment.

Thanks merrydance. I am aware of the 90/180 restriction as you will see in my response above. This for me is the biggest impact of Brexit as I did not intend to seek residency and would always insure my own health. However, I am now thinking more seriously about residency to overcome the 90/180 restriction but that brings with it a whole host of complications and current unknowns with regard to healthcare, tax and pensions, etc that I need to look into very carefully before deciding. That can stay on the backburner though as I should be able to do it post transition although it will probably be easier during the transition period.
