Faulty Withings Body Cardio Scales

Options
Hi,

Around three years after purchasing the Withings Body Cardio Scales from Amazon for £104.95 they developed a fault and now continually cycle through a factory reset loop fault preventing them from turning on.

Withings have confirmed this is a hardware issue but only provide replacements within the 2-year warranty period in Europe. I’ve asked about getting the device repaired and been advised that Withings have no repair centres.

We then contacted amazon as we would expect the product to last more than 3 years without success as they offer a 2 year warranty on electronics and deem that the product has worked for an acceptable period.

Does any have any advice or are my expectations on the life of the scales too high? Amazon do have alternative smart scales for £26 to £33, so significantly cheaper and we’d be covered for two years.

Were they bought direct from Amazon or marketplace seller.

Either way your consumer rights are with whoever sold you them. The onus is now on you to show it is an inherent fault via a report. Even if you can show the retailer can choose remedy including partial refund to reflect usage. How much for a 3 year old set of scales....£20?

Bite the bullet and move on.

They were sold by Amazon directly. I have evidence of the fault with emails to/from Withings support where they admit it’s a hardware issue. There’s a fair few people in the Withings forums who have experienced the same reset loop. To replace like for like would cost £135 (I had a discount code when buying at the end of 2018 as a previous Withings customer). I’d never buy a Withings product again given their positioning as premium, limited lifetime of the scales and no ability to repair. Definitely better off buying an alternative cheaper scales with similar features for a fraction of the price.
