Holiday Cancellation Sunshine holidays.co.uk

Options
Me and my girlfriend unfortunately booked a holiday to Ibiza over Xmas through Sunshineholidays.co.uk and 2 weeks later we found out she was pregnant 😁 which is fantastic however in 9 months we are due to fly to Ibiza ... Not ideal. So we cancelled the holiday, only to be charged £450, the total holiday cost was £1200. This seems steep and if you have a look at the breakdown I just want to know if this is fair?!

Total holiday cost £1167
Flight operator £332 _ full price
Transfers £45 _ full price
Hotel £1
Cancellation £60

Total charge £438 out of £1167

Just want to check this is correct and fair as we have cancelled only 21 days after booking?

Sounds fine, this is why you should have bought insurance first surely.

I'm sure they could have kept everything it being a holiday which has no automatic right to a refund.

No. Take out holiday insurance immediately after booking. Not the next day, not two weeks after, not the day before you plan to travel.....

The only possible over charge I can think of would be on the transfers. It strikes me as possibly strange that those would carry the full charge. That said, it is possible that to get a special price that these were non-refundable.

Rest seems appropriate for an OTA.

You need to read the t+c’s to see if those cancellation fees correspond with what you have been charged.

Insurance may not have covered pregnancy as a reason for cancellation.

But I agree with the 'buy travel insurance as soon as you book a holiday' advice.
