Houses are affordable for first time buyers

You want a cheap house?
Lots more on offer...
At £50k with modernisation needed, I suspect it'll go for more than that to an investor who'll give it a cheap cleanup and then rent it out.
Without seeing the listing it's hard to gauge how suitable it'd be for a first time buyer i.e. does it need a new bathroom/kitchen first which means it might not be inhabitable for the first few weeks?
I'm also not familiar with the area, but it's a half hour drive from Swansea city itself, what's it like in terms of job market?
I don't think anyone is saying cheap housing isn't available, but is the housing near where the jobs are?
There's a 1-bed flat here for sale at £26k (I'm surprised an investor hasn't snapped it up), but we're in the middle of nowhere, relatively, with very few jobs within walking distance.0 -
It depends on your priorities, and flexibility, really.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0

One, 125k houses are not readily available. That wouldn't get me a flat where I've grown up. Family houses are several times that.
Two, op forgets that interest rates are a historic low. What happens when they go up? Not like we're heading into a period of uncertainty or anything lol.
Three, a 25k job isn't as easy as a Google.
My bf and I are saving hard together for our first home and hope to get their for 30 so we can then start a family.
My parents were a single earning family and not wealthy yet could buy a decent family house with garden.
I'm not convinced by OPs argument.
£125k family homes are readily available. Just obviously not where you live. Loads round my way0 -

You can say the same for most places.
however its not really the same as plenty being available where they are needed and in plentiful supply
We have people paying over £100k for a garage to store their cars in Edinburgh.
Im sure there are cheaper garages available elsewhere though....0 -
