Part-exchange partner's car for my purchase, is it possible?
Options
Hi, hoping someone can tell me whether what I want to do is possible / common?
I own Car A (newer) and partner owns Car B (older and less efficient, starting to cost money with repairs etc).
I would like to pass on Car A to my partner (with the change of keeper details etc) and buy a newer one (Car C) myself. If possible we'd like to part-exchange Car B which is in my partner's name, against my purchase of Car C as this seems the most efficient way to handle it.
Partner would be happy to sign any needed paperwork or whatever..
I'm wondering if this is possible to do and would most mainstream dealerships (I know....) support something like that?

Of course.
There's nothing even remotely different about it compared to any other PX.0 -
Yes of course. I've done it before. You might possibly need to take partner with you to forestall awkward questions from sales people who struggle with the concept0

You shouldn't need to do any change of keeper. As long as you both go and demonstrate the owner/keeper is happy to do this it shouldn't be a problem.
Mrs waamo once p/xed my car without telling me beforehand. She told me to turn up at a dealers with it and my passport and pick up my new car. The dealer wasn't in the slightest bit bothered.0
