How much simpler could it all have been?
Oh dear.
I do wonder why some forumites feel obliged to post this type of sneering unpleasantness, only to reveal themselves as smart aleck's devoid of any human empathy.
BTW an article linked in this week's monevator:

(Which perhaps the OP was referencing at post 8).Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
Ah! thank you Alice Holt for your sympathetic comment and helpful link which has made me feel a a lot better.
I some times wonder what size brain the "Monevator" has? clearly a man of high intellect, he imparts a great deal of very useful information etc.0 -
Discovered Monevator many years ago when I was wet behind the ears & investing in managed funds. I have since rid myself of high charges & my portfolio is doing well. Monevator is a completely impartial website & I would recommend it to anyone who has money to invest. Lots of common sense articles.

Monevator is a completely impartial website
I would disagree. It does have a bias to passive investing. To be impartial, you should be open to all methods of investing.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.3 -
While the Monevator site does suggest most people would be better with passive investing, The Investor (website founder) is an active investor, and there are active investing links every week, so I would say he is open to all methods of investing.dunstonh said:Monevator is a completely impartial websiteI would disagree.
