Can i access the net on wifi without a server provider?

in the process of switching my BB, and bought a new laptop and i'm going away this weekend and want to take my laptop with me.

my go live date is this friday 30th nov, and still not received my new router and start up disc etc...

can i use the wifi in the hotel without having any provider loaded into my new laptop, maybee with IE ??

can't find my old provider disc even to have that untill my stuff arrive if it is still activated.

If you use the wifi in the hotel then by definition you're using their internet service provider. Personally I'd only do that for general browsing, I'd never check my email or sign into any webpage that required my username and password. You can't be sure of the security when using someone else's wifi.

By the way if you're getting a router then you shouldn't really install any software from your service provider on your pc when your router arrives.
