Playa de las Americas, Tenerife?

I fancy going here as a solo traveller in March and unsure whether it's a good place to visit. Was in Puerto de Carmen last year.
I'd like to stay somewhere close as possible to the beach and promenade and not too rowdy. Activities such as cycling, running, sea swimming and maybe a beer in the evening.
I can flights for circa €210 - is it cheaper to book these separately or go for a package?
Would be grateful for any suggestions where to stay and any other tips?

Personally I would diy it rather than a package but in saying that I usually hire a car as I travel the Island. The bus service is good and cheap if you want simple transport.
The "main drag" along the sea front is noisy the end that Linekers bar and Veronicas is. The other end is quieter
It's built for tourists so eating and drinking options are plenty and cheap.0 -

Flights are around €200 and accommodation €700 half board but I was hoping to get cheaper. Any suggestions where to stay?
I've heard about "Veronica's strip" and would prefer to avoid it0 -
I've found Jet2 or EasyJet to be the cheapest. I tend to prefer Jet2 but there isn't really much in it.
Given the food options available I would go b&b or perhaps room only. Eating out is cheaper than the UK and there are hundreds of places.
Anywhere away from Veronicas is fine. Have you looked on. Booking.com? There are some great private apartments.0 -
I went as a solo traveller too in January last year. I love Tenerife and want to go back in the summer to get some photos of the Milky Way.
For towns to stay in I would suggest Los Cristianos instead, it's a short bus ride/taxi or a nice walk away from Playa De La Americas, but it's quieter with a nicer vibe. It still has lots of pubs and restaurants of its own, but I found it much more pleasant to stay. I did go out in Playa De La Americas for one of my nights and the taxi was less than 10 euros to get back to my hotel.
I found the place to be a bit too catered to tourists. I stayed in a hotel a 5 minute walk from the beach. It wasn't too rowdy, but I did go in January. There's also boat trips to see dolphins/pilot whales and other whales if the season is right nearby Los Cristianos or Playa de la Americas.
Other suggestions - I would take a visit/excursion up the volcano if I were you. There are tours that take you up there that can pick you up from your hotel - or if you're brave enough you can rent a car and have a nice drive up the windy mountain roads. They're so nice to drive on and they're not too scary either, the roads are well looked after and not narrow either! Take a look here for some excursion ideas:

There's also a waterpark nearby which is fun. I went in January and wasn't busy at all, but I've heard it gets quite busy in the summer holidays!
I stayed at the Sol Arona, it was ok, but not the best place I've stayed at. I also stayed 2 nights at the hotel halfway up the volcano - the Parador - so I could do some star photography. It's a very traditional place, which I know some English people would hate. There's no chance of getting chips at that hotel haha! It was a nice place, although the restaurant is a bit expensive - they're nowhere near shops or even powerlines, they have their own generator, so this pushes the price up a bit. This is the place excursions sometimes leave from as well.
I would definitely say to do Tenerife as a solo traveller, it's easy to navigate and lots of interesting things to do.0 -
Los Cristianos is definitely quieter and more relaxed than Playa. There are just as many tourist options for food, bike hire etc there too.0

We've been to PdlA many times and always stay at Parque Santiago 3 or 4. They are central to everything but well away from the rowdier areas such as Veronicas. Within easy walking distance of the huge beach at Las Vistas and both have access directly onto the coastal walk which is several miles long.
The only negative of PS3 & 4 are their over priced bars and restaurants, but as there are many others within a few minutes walk it's not a major problem.0
