As the house is semi detached, is this chimney stack shared with the neighbours? If yes it gets a lot more "interesting", as the neighbours structures will need to be considered, along with" party wall" and potential safety issues (heat and fumes) if the stack is still in use (or could be put back into use).
It is a semi-detached house. The chimney stack is still there.
The chimney stack is shared with the neighbour on the party wall. There wasnt even a party wall agreement in the paperwork that my solicitor sent.
I called the council today to find out if they can tell me if it was ok, they said that the inspector went but cannot say any more as i am not the owner.
Ive not even heard from the estate agent in the last couple of days.0 -
So today I found out that the council have approved but certificate will take a few weeks. However I have questioned the seller as to if there was any damage or if any conditions were imposed. Waiting to hear back.
On the council building control portal it now says "Accepted RG with Work". I wonder if that is a conditional approval?0 -
It sounds like it might need additional or remedial work. Would be best to get your solicitor to ask for a copy of the actual communication.0

I have asked the solicitor for the certificate (as its been issued) and any supporting documentation. I asked the estate agents what was carried out and the inspector went to the loft and next doors house.
Now they want to exchange tomorrow, which i cannot until i am 100% satisfied.0
