Undiagnosed condition & impact on pre advised conditions

Hi, has anyone come across this situiation before?
We currently have annual travel insurance with pre declared conditions for both me and my wife for which we pay additional premiums.
I've been sent for an additional eye test which is classed as undiagnosed but would not prevent travel. So far so normal.
However our insurer has advised us that until the eye becomes "diagnosed" i.e. results back from the hospital, my pre existing conditions are not covered.
e.g. I've paid for a holiday in full, then get asked to go for a test but before the results come back a pre existing condition flares up preventing me from travel which means that I would not be covered and would lose the cost of the holiday (or worse if the it flared up whilst on holiday)

    It's standard

Any "current" investigation is excluded until diagnosis. That includes existing illness until it's proven it's not linked

Surely if this problem has come up since you took out the policy then you can cancel & claim on the insurance.

What are you being tested for? And will it be done before or after holiday?

If after and is actually a condition you are screwed - unless you can find a medical specialist insurer prepared to take the risk - but for something not yet diagnosed that will be tough.
