Santander PPI - I only got £20.09

So I made a complaint to Santander about the PPI on a Burton's store card that they've taken over from GE Money.
I opened the card back in October 2003 when I was out of work. I specifically remember the sales assistant on the till in Burton's asking if I'd like to save 10% on a purchase I was making. I remember telling her that I was not working so probably wouldn't qualify for a card and her saying that it was worth a try and filled the form in for me and just had me sign (thinking back now, she was probably on commission to sign people up as they used to do it all the time). She also ticked the box for PPI even though I wasn't asked about this. I remember ringing to cancel the PPI after a few monthly payments had been taken, as I had not asked for it at the time.
Anyway, fast forward to now and I lodged the complaint with Santander a few months ago. Just before xmas I got a questionnaire to fill in about my health and work history (I've had ongoing problems with my bowels since I was 15 and this had meant I've had a very patchy work pattern). I filled in the questionnaire and returned it.
Yesterday, I got a payment into my bank account of £20.09 from Santander. I just rang them to query this and was told that I had only paid £7.55 for PPI over the course of my Burtons store card account, which they've refunded now with £12.54 interest = £20.09
Does that seem right? As it goes back to 2003, I would have thought the interest alone would add up to more than that?!
This is the only PPI complaint I've made so have nothing to compare it to, but people I know have had successful complaints and have got hundreds/thousands in refunds and interest!

It's your premiums, plus associated and statutory interest.
The people you know who got more, paid more.
Based on you only paying a few months and it being a store card (so low credit limit), the figures sound spot on.
Because they paid hundreds and thousands in PPI premiums.
As the payment into your bank account was £20.09 this probably means your actual refund was £23.22 but £3.13 was deducted in tax before the payment was made.
The interest is taxable but you may only actually be due to pay 0% tax on it so you could possibly claim an additional £3.13 back from HMRC.
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
Precisely £11,000?
