Help needed - Australia visit

Hey everyone,
My partner and I have been discussing moving to Australia for a year or two.
I have recently secured £16,000 over 5 years with my bank in an unsecured loan.
I plan to use £9,000 to pay off debts and the remainder I was going to use as a float to cover my monthly instalments whilst I am out there for the first year, obviously we will be working out there so I will have an income from being out there to support my day to day life, and if we decide to stay a second year, I should have developed a suitable job out there to cover expenses plus the remaining years worth of monthly instalments.
My question is however, will Australia allow you into their country with the debt? I FULLY INTEND TO REPAY IT and I will have a large cash sum in the bank to cover the instalments for my first year?
If anyone can please advise on this then that would be excellent.
Also - if anyone knows or can provide me with a bullet point list (and links *pretty please*) of what I need to do to get myself "down under" then that would also be great.
Thanks in advance,
P

Search "Australia Immigration" and be prepared for a long read.0

Be surprised if they can see any debt you have due to data protection laws?0

Thanks for the replies.
I will read up on immigration.
As for debt, I was informed by Word of Mouth that Australia can be particular with regards to allowing entry with unsecured debt? Perhaps just scare mongering but I thought it worth an ask and if any expert knows the answer that would be helpful.
Appreciate it,

Just an update - thanks for telling me to search for Aus Immigration.
Really helpful, their government website has given me so much information. I can apply for the 1 year working holiday visa, do 3 months of specific work to qualify for another year if I wanted to, stay for 12 months, work there for 12 months and fly in and out as much as I want.
Fantastic stuff!
And there was no mention of unsecured loans etc. I guess it's a case of "if you can afford to go, go!".
Looks like I'll be having a BBQ for Christmas on the beach guys! Appreciate your help!

Don't ask me how they knew!
Thanks for this!
Out of interest did she have any form of credit from the UK whilst she was out there?0 -
My daughter went down to Australia this month on a similar under 30 working visa.
The concern I would have about your financial position would be for credit referencing once in Australia for renting accommodation.
Daughter had been told to take a recent bank statement with her as immigration might ask to see this on arrival and it would be useful to prove that she had sufficient funds for her visit. As it happens Immigration in SYD did not ask for it and entry under the visa was easy.
She has however been asked for the Lloyds bank statement twice by different accommodation letting companies and also when actually signing a lease. Just something to think about if you have an outstanding debt and no free cash in the bank.0 -

TBH I personally think you should clear the current debt without getting the loan. Pop over to the debt free wannabe board and they can help with cutting down/back on spending to the bare essentials, getting a second job and saving some to cover the first few months in Aus so your not pressured for finding a job straight away.
I have done my working hol in Aus (as well as NZ, currently Canada and a regular work visa in India) I have saved anywhere between 2000-9000 for my ATW trips, one spending over 6 months in SE asia before heading to NZ. I defiantly preferred the freedom of having money in the bank and no debt to just enjoy myself.
On my trip to Aus I got into such a hole work in Sydney was hard to find for 21 year old me, it was enough to survive but that was it, I ended up getting a job out at one of the hotels at Uluru (the big red rock) which turned everything around, loved it and was able to clear my debt I had created while in Sydney and have a nice amount for my homeward travels and to start back in the UK with some money. Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada  :dance:0 -
First of all thank you so much for the replies.
I think I am in two mindsets about this whole thing and I do have myself in a pickle.
My financial position has been poor since I was 18 and I think it all stems from the fact that I can't be alone.
She wants to go abroad so badly, and so do I, but she's ready to go and without my loan I can't go, I just won't have the money.
I guess this is a bit emotional, thank you for your advice and support. I'll have a strong think about it all and go from there.
Cheers
