I am being very serious. it hurts the local solicitors who are just trying to earn a wage - the ones who don't just employ bucket loads of minimum wage unqualified admin staff but actually rely on qualified staff to do the work and don't deal with 500 cases a month.

(I have picked up the pieces from quite a few clients who have moved from PPL because they were having a nightmare and I dread it when I see they are the other side !)

Ok - so it sounds like you work for a solicitor / conveyancer, and you're annoyed because companies like PPL are taking away your business.

If you're offering a 'premium' service, versus PPL's 'economy' service, I guess you need to get better at explaining to prospective clients why your service is better.

(I guess it's a bit like a few years ago when Ryanair showed up, and started taking BA's customers.)

FWIW, I always use local solicitors. I don't like using companies like PPL.

With housesimple you will get a complete conveyancing factory experience.

That can be fine if your purchase is completely straightforward and you aren't bothered about how long it takes, but will be a nightmare if you need some advice or there are problems.

Do a search on this forum for "Premier Property Lawyers" or "PPL". They have generated loads of horror stories over the years.

Another angle - I have just sold with a well respeced local firm of solicitors with a good reputation. Unfortuately their one experienced conveyancer went off suddenly on long term sick leave (that's their story anyway). They didn't seem to have effective cover/contingency and this affected our sale quite significantly. You may not get a personal service with a conveyancing factory but if someone were off sick (or got fired) your case wouldn't just be left for several weeks while they worked out what to do. I would use a local firm again BTW.
  • thanks for all the replies guys, especially the issues with HS being PPL.

    really appreciated
  • So, looking at the booklet (my quote) is says HS is the "introducer" who will be paid an referral fee of £595 from the lawyer (do we even sue this term in the UK?!?!).
