O/S Daily Thursday 23 January 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark and damp start to the day, but milder.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roast chicken portions, mash, veg and gravy, not sure about tonight but will sort something.
Yesterday work was quite quiet, although I had a new procedure to do for a customer and part the way through the technology let us down yet again, after an engineer had been with us most of Monday and it was supposed to be sorted - evidently not, as we then had another problem with it last night which meant we had to leave as they were working on it. Pleased to be on days' off now until Monday, I have lots to do.
I'll be heading off to my nail appointment first thing, then have all the normal jobs to do.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
Oh I am in a grumpy grumpy mood after yet another night with disturbed sleep. I need to go and make a cup of tea to see if that will sweeten me.
Argh, I pressed the wrong button and now I have to edit my post. Today is just going to be rubbish I can tellRight, I have a load of washing to do today, my best friend is coming to see me this afternoon so that will definitely be a bright spot and it's Steve's turn to cook tonight so I don't have to think about what to make.
I'm going to disappear for now in case I make any more mistakes. Hope you are all going to have a great day, take care xx0 -
Good morning, it seems to be a quiet damp morning out there. Thanks for starting NMLC.
I met up with a friend yesterday and she came back for lunch she had a hospital appointment in mid afternoon so she left about 1.45 for that.
I did a few odd jobs, and that was yesterday. We had our usual quiet evening, well I did, DH goes out on a Wednesday evening to a club connected with his hobby. He's usually back by 9,30.
Today I want to wash all the window frames, clean the windows and wipe the blinds down, It's not my favourite job but they need it. I've got a phone no. for a window cleaner for the outsides, I'll ring and arrange something if possible. We haven't had a reliable window cleaner for years, and resorted to doing upstairs outsides with a telescopic thing which is ok, but I would rather have them done by someone.
TA, I hope you've emerged from under the stairs, and that Sparkle is ok.
Have a good Thursday everyone0 -
Morning All
It's very mild out this morning and dry too, strange weather for January (yes, Specky, it's still January!).
Yesterday's new system at work seemed to run well, it will make a huge difference to us and the lunch hall once everyone's on board.
DD wants to go swimming tonight so I'll go with her, could do with starting again to get myself shifting!
Hope everything went OK with the police RR.
Enjoy the Yoga tru, if nothing else she has a lovely dog!
Hope your day gets better dumpling.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another mild start so no heating on yet.
No early wake up call this morning. Sparkle didn't have her psychic cat head on and woke me up quite sedately at 5.45. Will it last?!
Shopping morning. DS taking me before his late shift. I think it will probably just be Aldi as I don't need a lot. Just f & v and dairy. The eating from the freezers resolution is still going strong but stocks dont look any lower! He will stay on for an early lunch, yet to be christened.
No Bolognese Bake to make today. Only eldest DGD here for tea and sleepover so not worth bothering. I think we will just settle for pizzas. That blooming panto does interfere with routine for the younger two! It appears they have been having celebrities in the audience. Dame Helen Mirren was there last week, wearing a sparkly crown she had bought from one of the street sellers outside the theatre! Her photo was in a local paper with Paul Chuckle.
I survived the ordeal of getting under the stairs yesterday! All the toys and stuff are now piled up in the garage ready for DD to put on the FB giveaway page. I've left all the stuff on the shelves as I am not dismantling shelves! So just cleaning appliances etc on the floor which are easily moved out when the meter man arrives.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all poorly people and sick animals that need them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Cold and frosty here again the cars have thick ice on them. I have put a load on to wash and will dry it later in the td - no point trying it outside atm.
I ended up not going to the police station, dd said she would text when she was wrapping her statement up and then I could make my way down, she got there at five and didn't leave till 8.45 !! The police seem very determined to 'get' him over all this, I shall do my statement at another time.
Chilli for dinner tonight or spag bol not decided yet I also have a Sainsbugs delivery coming, I got an £18 off voucher so thought I would see how it goes.
Speky I hope the foot is ok ?
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning,
A relatively boring night for me last night. Popped into the gym after work but even carrying weights about kind of aggravated my ankle, so I had to be careful. I then had a fairly relaxed one before going to bed at about 9 ish. Much needed.
No gym this morning as my body was still screaming out for sleep. I'll maybe go after work, especially as I've no other plans. Need to phone my bank and then E.on to sort out a payment plan, as they billed me £150 when I switched, turns out I had been under paying. Whilst it doesn't leave me short, I'd just rather spread them out, I think.
TA - Wow, what an audience. No pressure then.
RR - Good to hear the police are wanting to end this. And the ankle is getting there, slowly. My ankle is now a lovely plum colour haha!0 -

Morning SpekySquarehead and all others on the thread
As we've received some accurate final reads, sounds like it's caused a bit of a catch up bill.
You might want to pop on the Live Chat facility via the online account, they can set this up for you, saves you a phone call.
Thanks

Dogs walked and Dolly fed Kassie isn't eating at the moment so scrambled egg and chicken breast cooked in the hope it will encourage her . Her appointment didn't go well and she has been prescribed Viagra as her heart is pumping too fast thus she feels ill hopefully this works as it is her only chance its going to be tough here for a while this is still a short term solution .They say you have one dog in your life that gets under your skin and for me she is that one
OK so today i will be trying to get on as best i can her original mum is coming to see her today so need to make sure there are no trip hazards as she is blind so a quick tidy up is in order
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to xSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning all
It's very foggy and damp here. I woke up this morning and I was convinced it was Friday.
Dad's new cleaner arrived yesterday and apparently she's the new Wonder Woman ! I'm just glad that they get on ( insert sigh of relief )
My foot is a bit better, I don't know whether it was the foot rubs from Mr Fix It or the foot spa dips. I've had the latter for quite a few years but it's not been used much........ come to think of it, I've had the former even longerNote to self -: next time I go to Trago do not wear my "going out" boots. but wear trainers, or as a last resort my walking boots and take my poles :rotfl:. Either that, or find a buggyboard that hooks on Dad's scooter !
Today I shall strip the bed, then get Mr Fix It to get the ceiling fan components down, so they can be cleaned. I have to cover the bed first with an old sheet, as they look filthyThen I will dust and hoover upstairs before remaking the bed. That probably will take up most of the day as neither of us are very quick these days and we will probably have many coffee breaks!
Tea tonight will be bacon, sausage and egg etc. We bought a multi function cooker for the 'van and we need to try it out. It's like an electric frying pan with a lid and is very lightweight.
Right I suppose I'd better get a wriggle on and do what it says on the tin
Healing vibes to all the poorly people, animals and all. Hugs to those in need esp RedRuby and her DD, Dumpling and BellaB
Anyone seen Hester lately ? I hope she and CHS are ok.
Take care all.

Morning, late comer, it is the dreaded shopping day, so dragged myself out of bed to go to Aldi. OH appeared just as I was finishing my coffee.
Horrid weather, very foggy all the way into town and back again, its thickened up since I got home.
Prices seem to be increasing and Aldi seem to be having a problem with supplies just now, none of OH's yogurt.....large washing up liquid out of stock too, had to get a couple of replacement things. There were other empty spaces on the shelves as well. Looks like the shopping bill will have to go up to £40 a week. Last year it was £30, rising to £35 occasionally. I have spent over £150 this month and still have a week to go.
Phone call yesterday, we have to have the electrics checked, hope they do not have to do a rewire, its going to cause a problem if we do. Bookcases will have to be emptied to get to plugs behind them and my sewing room will be chaos.
Beef and bean casserole with mash, calebrese and cauliflower tonight. I bought a couple of bananas so we will have one of them for dessert.0
