Does anybody NOT do cash-only these days?

It’s income tax avoidance as well as avoiding VAT for those that are registered.
In my mind you are more likely to get someone who cuts corners.
Just to be pedantic. Tax avoidance is legal. Wanting to be paid by "cash only" is usually done for tax evasion purposes and that is illegal.
Also not charging VAT when you are registered for VAT is not avoiding VAT but VAT fraud, which is also illegal of course.0 -
I have sometimes word-processed and printed a receipt for a cash payment I have made to someone for work carried out and got them to sign it.
I also did this when I sold a vehicle for cash to someone last year. I made two copies: one for them and one for me.0
