Barclaycard initial/forward limit increase confusion

Can somebody please clarify if you need to wait 2 years for a limit increase on a Barclaycard initial/forward?
I tried to raise my limit today and I got this message on the app -
There are many reasons that could prevent us from raising a credit limit. We can’t raise yours because we can't review the credit limit on this type of card until you've had it for 2 years.
This cannot be true surely? Can anybody confirm if this is just a standard rejection message or if there’s truth to it.
As I said this is a barclaycard forward (the new name for initial) so please don’t answer if your experience is with a different barclaycard as I know this card is for credit building/bad credit therefore the criteria is likely very different

I've had the Initial/Forward for just over five years. I've never requested a credit increase but have had two automatic ones - the first after six months and the second after a further eight months.Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.
Dealt with my debt through a Step Change (CCCS) DMP.
